जीवन परिचय :-

शुभांशु शुक्ला एक भारतीय अंतरिक्ष यात्री हैं, जो गगनयान कार्यक्रम का हिस्सा हैं, जो भारत के पहले अंतरिक्ष यात्रियों को उनके स्वयं के चालक दल के वाहन में अंतरिक्ष में भेजेगा, और जिन्होंने 25 जून 2025 को एक्सिओम मिशन 4 (एक्स -4) पर प्राथमिक मिशन पायलट के रूप में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष स्टेशन (आईएसएस) को लॉन्च किया। मिशन अंतरिक्ष यान 26 जून 2025 को स्टेशन पर डॉक किया गया।

प्रारंभिक जीवन और शिक्षा :-

लखनऊ , उत्तर प्रदेश के मूल निवासी शुभांशु शुक्ला ने अपनी स्कूली शिक्षा सिटी मॉन्टेसरी स्कूल , अलीगंज से पूरी की। 1999 के कारगिल युद्ध से प्रेरित होकर , उन्होंने स्वतंत्र रूप से यूपीएससी एनडीए परीक्षा के लिए आवेदन किया और उसे पास कर लिया । उन्होंने अपना सैन्य प्रशिक्षण पूरा किया और 2005 में राष्ट्रीय रक्षा अकादमी से कंप्यूटर विज्ञान में विज्ञान स्नातक की डिग्री हासिल की।

इसके बाद उन्हें फ्लाइंग ब्रांच के लिए चुना गया और भारतीय वायु सेना अकादमी में प्रशिक्षण प्राप्त किया। जून 2006 में उन्हें फ्लाइंग ऑफिसर के रूप में भारतीय वायु सेना की फाइटर स्ट्रीम में कमीशन दिया गया ।

शुक्ला को जून 2006 में भारतीय वायु सेना (IAF) के लड़ाकू दल में शामिल किया गया था। उनके पास 2024 के मध्य तक मिग -21, मिग-29, सुखोई एसयू-30, डोर्नियर और हॉक जैसे विमानों को संचालित करने का लगभग 2,000 घंटे का उड़ान अनुभव है। जून 2019 में उन्हें विंग कमांडर के रूप में पदोन्नत किया गया और उसी वर्ष इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ एयरोस्पेस मेडिसिन (IAM) के माध्यम से उन्हें IAF के अंतरिक्ष यात्री चयन प्रक्रिया के लिए चुना गया। शुक्ला को भारत के गगनयान मिशन के लिए चार अंतरिक्ष यात्रियों ( प्रशांत बालकृष्णन नायर , अजीत कृष्णन और अंगद प्रताप के साथ) में से एक के रूप में चुना गया था, जिसमें भारत की पहली चालक दल की उड़ान, H1, संभवतः 2025 में, में तीन अंतरिक्ष यात्रियों को पृथ्वी की निचली कक्षा में भेजने की योजना है ।

भारतीय वायु सेना कैरियर :-

वह एक लड़ाकू नेता और अनुभवी परीक्षण पायलट हैं, जिनके पास विभिन्न विमानों में लगभग 2,000 घंटों की उड़ान का अनुभव है, जिसमें Su-30 MKI , MiG-21 , MiG-29 , जगुआर , हॉक , डोर्नियर 228 और An-32 शामिल हैं ।

इसरो अंतरिक्ष यात्री कैरियर:-

शुभ्रांशु शुक्ला को भारतीय मानव अंतरिक्ष उड़ान कार्यक्रम के लिए भारतीय वायु सेना के तहत एक संगठन इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ एयरोस्पेस मेडिसिन (आईएएम) द्वारा 2019 में अंतरिक्ष यात्री चयन प्रक्रिया में शामिल किया गया था। बाद में, उन्हें आईएएम और इसरो द्वारा अंतिम चार में चुना गया था । 2020 में, वह यूरी गगारिन कॉस्मोनॉट ट्रेनिंग सेंटर में तीन अन्य चयनित अंतरिक्ष यात्रियों के साथ बुनियादी प्रशिक्षण के लिए रूस गए। बुनियादी प्रशिक्षण 2021 में पूरा हुआ। इसके बाद वे भारत लौट आए और बैंगलोर में अंतरिक्ष यात्री प्रशिक्षण सुविधा में प्रशिक्षण में भाग लिया । इस समयावधि के दौरान, उन्होंने आईआईएससी बैंगलोर से एयरोस्पेस इंजीनियरिंग में मास्टर ऑफ टेक्नोलॉजी की डिग्री पूरी की ।

अंतरिक्ष यात्री टीम के सदस्य के रूप में उनका नाम पहली बार आधिकारिक तौर पर 27 फरवरी 2024 को सार्वजनिक रूप से घोषित किया गया था, जब प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने तिरुवनंतपुरम में इसरो के विक्रम साराभाई अंतरिक्ष केंद्र में भारत के पहले मानव अंतरिक्ष मिशन के लिए अंतरिक्ष यात्री टीम के सदस्यों के नामों की घोषणा की थी ।

25 जून, 2025 को शुभांशु शुक्ला को मिशन पायलट के रूप में लेकर एक्सिओम-4 मिशन सफलतापूर्वक लॉन्च किया गया, जो मानव अंतरिक्ष उड़ान में भारत के लिए एक ऐतिहासिक क्षण था। शुक्ला, कमांडर पैगी व्हिटसन और दो अन्य विशेषज्ञ स्पेसएक्स फाल्कन 9 रॉकेट और ड्रैगन अंतरिक्ष यान में सवार होकर अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष स्टेशन के लिए रवाना हुए।

एक्सिओम मिशन 4 :-

शुभांशु वर्तमान में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष स्टेशन पर चल रहे एक्सिओम मिशन 4 मिशन के लिए मिशन पायलट के रूप में सेवारत हैं , जो 25 जून 2025 को फ्लोरिडा में नासा के कैनेडी स्पेस सेंटर से अंतरिक्ष में लॉन्च किया गया था । वह कमांडर पैगी व्हिटसन के नेतृत्व में एक चालक दल का हिस्सा हैं , जिसमें मिशन विशेषज्ञ स्लावोस उज़्नान्स्की-विस्निवेस्की और टिबोर कापू भी शामिल हैं ।  साथी इसरो अंतरिक्ष यात्री प्रशांत नायर को बैकअप चालक दल के सदस्य के रूप में नामित किया गया था; दोनों ने ह्यूस्टन में नासा के जॉनसन स्पेस सेंटर में प्रशिक्षण लिया ।

नासा , स्पेसएक्स और इसरो के बीच सहयोग से शुरू किए गए इस मिशन का उद्देश्य अंतरराष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष उड़ान सहयोग को मजबूत करना है। शुक्ला आईएसएस का दौरा करने वाले पहले भारतीय अंतरिक्ष यात्री हैं , अंतरिक्ष में उड़ान भरने वाले चौथे भारतीय मूल के हैं और अंतरिक्ष यात्री राकेश शर्मा के बाद कक्षा में जाने वाले दूसरे भारतीय हैं । उनकी सीट की कीमत “मध्य-$60 मिलियन रेंज” (लगभग ₹500 करोड़) में होने का अनुमान है।

कौन हैं शुभांशु शुक्ला की पत्नी :-

शुभांशु शुक्‍ला की इस कामयाबी पर पूरे परिवार में जश्न का माहौल है। शुभांशु की इस सफल करियर के पीछे उनकी पत्‍नी डॉक्‍टर कामना मिश्रा का भी बड़ा हाथ है। कामना पेशे से डेंटिस्‍ट हैं। वह अपने परिवार के साथ लखनऊ में रहती हैं। बता दें कि शुभांशु और कामना स्‍कूल के समय के दोस्‍त हैं। कॉलेज में आने के बाद दोनों की दोस्‍ती का रिश्‍ता प्‍यार में बदला और फिर उन्‍होंने शादी कर ली।

1. शुभांशु के पिता का कहना है कि शुभांशु ने जब NDA का फॉर्म भरा तो परिवार के किसी मेंबर कुछ नहीं बताया था। हमें इस बारे में उस वक्त पता चला जब उसका NDA में सिलेक्शन हो गया। कामयाब होने पर उसने यह बात परिवार से शेयर की थी।

2. शुभशुं शुक्ला के पत्नी ने एक इंटरव्यू के दौरान बताया कि शुभशुं बेहद शर्मीले नेचर के हैं। ज्यादा किसी ने बात नहीं करते हैं।

3. शुभशुं शुक्ला का सबसे बड़ा सीक्रेट उनकी लव स्टोरी है। शुभांशु और उनकी पत्नी कामना एक ही स्कूल में पढ़ते थे। तीसरी क्लास में दोनों की पहली मुलाकात हुई थी। कॉलेज में प्रपोज किया और आज से 7 साल पहले शादी कर ली।

व्यक्तिगत जीवन :-

शुक्ला की शादी पेशे से दंत चिकित्सक कामना मिश्रा से हुई है , जो स्कूल में शुभांशु की सहपाठी थी। दंपति का एक बेटा है। उनके पिता शंभू दयाल शुक्ला एक सेवानिवृत्त सरकारी अधिकारी हैं, जबकि उनकी माँ आशा शुक्ला एक गृहिणी हैं। वह तीन भाई-बहनों में सबसे छोटे हैं। 

अपने ख़ाली समय में, शुक्ला को शारीरिक व्यायाम करना और विज्ञान से संबंधित किताबें पढ़ना पसंद है। हाल ही में उन्होंने कुंडली पढ़ने में रुचि विकसित की है , हालाँकि वे खुद को अज्ञेयवादी मानते हैं  उनका जुनून एस्ट्रोफ़ोटोग्राफ़ी तक भी फैला हुआ है।

NDA परीक्षा बहन की शादी छोड़कर दी थी!

शुभांशु ने अपनी बड़ी बहन की शादी के दिन चुपचाप घर से निकलकर NDA की परीक्षा दी थी। उस समय वे केवल 16 साल के थे।

राकेश शर्मा के बाद अंतरिक्ष में जाने वाले दूसरे भारतीय!

शुभांशु शुक्ला भारत के पहले व्यक्ति हैं जो अंतरराष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष स्टेशन (ISS) पर मिशन के तहत जाएंगे। इससे पहले केवल राकेश शर्मा (1984) सोवियत मिशन के तहत गए थे।

Biography :-

Shubhanshu Shukla is an Indian astronaut who is part of the Gaganyaan program, which will send India's first astronauts to space in their own crewed vehicle, and who launched to the International Space Station (ISS) as the primary mission pilot on the Axiom Mission 4 (X-4) on 25 June 2025. The mission spacecraft docked at the station on 26 June 2025.

Early Life and Education :-

A native of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, Shubhanshu Shukla completed his schooling from City Montessori School, Aliganj. Inspired by the 1999 Kargil War, he independently applied for the UPSC NDA exam and cleared it. He completed his military training and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the National Defense Academy in 2005.

He was then selected for the Flying Branch and received training at the Indian Air Force Academy. He was commissioned into the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force as a Flying Officer in June 2006.

Shukla was inducted into the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force (IAF) in June 2006. He has nearly 2,000 hours of flying experience, having operated aircraft such as the MiG-21, MiG-29, Sukhoi Su-30, Dornier and Hawk by mid-2024. He was promoted to wing commander in June 2019 and was selected for the IAF's astronaut selection process through the Institute of Aerospace Medicine (IAM) the same year. Shukla was selected as one of the four astronauts (along with Prashanth Balakrishnan Nair, Ajit Krishnan and Angad Pratap) for India's Gaganyaan mission, which plans to send three astronauts to low Earth orbit on India's first crewed flight, H1, likely in 2025.

He is a combat leader and experienced test pilot with nearly 2,000 hours of flying experience in various aircraft, including the Su-30 MKI, MiG-21, MiG-29, Jaguar, Hawk, Dornier 228, and An-32.

ISRO Astronaut Career:-

Shubhranshu Shukla was shortlisted in the astronaut selection process in 2019 by the Institute of Aerospace Medicine (IAM), an organisation under the Indian Air Force, for the Indian Human Spaceflight Programme. Later, he was selected among the final four by IAM and ISRO. In 2020, he went to Russia for basic training along with three other selected astronauts at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre. The basic training was completed in 2021. He then returned to India and attended training at the Astronaut Training Facility in Bangalore. During this time period, he completed his Master of Technology degree in Aerospace Engineering from IISc Bangalore.

His name as a member of the astronaut team was first officially announced publicly on February 27, 2024, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the names of the astronaut team members for India's first human space mission at ISRO's Vikram Sarabhai Space Center in Thiruvananthapuram.

On June 25, 2025, the Axiom-4 mission was successfully launched with Shubhanshu Shukla as the mission pilot, marking a historic moment for India in human spaceflight. Shukla, commander Peggy Whitson, and two other specialists lifted off for the International Space Station aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon spacecraft.

Axiom Mission 4 :-

Shubhanshu is currently serving as the mission pilot for the ongoing Axiom Mission 4 mission to the International Space Station, which was launched into space on June 25, 2025 from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. He is part of a crew led by commander Peggy Whitson, which also includes mission specialists Slavos Uznanski-Wisniewski and Tibor Kapu. Fellow ISRO astronaut Prashant Nair was named as a backup crew member; both trained at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston.

The mission, launched in collaboration between NASA, SpaceX and ISRO, aims to strengthen international spaceflight cooperation. Shukla is the first Indian astronaut to visit the ISS, the fourth Indian-born to fly into space, and the second Indian to go into orbit after astronaut Rakesh Sharma. His seat is estimated to be worth in the “mid-$60 million range” (roughly ₹500 crores).

3. Shubhshun Shukla's biggest secret is his love story. Shubhshun and his wife Kamna studied in the same school. They first met in the third class. They proposed in college and got married 7 years ago.

Personal Life:-

Shukla is married to Kamna Mishra, a dentist by profession, who was Shubhanshu's classmate in school. The couple has a son. His father Shambhu Dayal Shukla is a retired government official, while his mother Asha Shukla is a homemaker. He is the youngest of three siblings.

In his leisure time, Shukla likes to do physical exercise and read science-related books. Recently he has developed an interest in reading horoscopes, although he considers himself an agnostic. His passion also extends to astrophotography.

He left his sister's wedding and gave the NDA exam!

Shubhanshu quietly left home on the day of his elder sister's wedding and gave the NDA exam. He was only 16 years old at that time.

Second Indian to go to space after Rakesh Sharma!

Shubhanshu Shukla is the first person from India who will go to the International Space Station (ISS) under a mission. Before this, only Rakesh Sharma (1984) went under the Soviet mission.

He is a test pilot of 6+ fighter planes
