ऋषभ पंत

जीवन परिचय --

ऋषभ पंत एक भारतीय अंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेटर हैं जो भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम के लिए विकेटकीपर बल्लेबाज के रूप में खेलते हैं। वह वर्तमान में टेस्ट प्रारूप में भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम के उप कप्तान हैं । वह इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग में लखनऊ सुपर जायंट्स और घरेलू क्रिकेट में दिल्ली के लिए कप्तानी करते हैं और खेलते हैं ।

पंत इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग के इतिहास में सबसे महंगे खिलाड़ी बन गए क्योंकि उन्हें इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग नीलामी 2025 में लखनऊ सुपर जायंट्स द्वारा ₹ 27.00 करोड़ (US$3.2 मिलियन) में खरीदा गया था। वह 2024 टी20 विश्व कप और 2025 चैंपियंस ट्रॉफी जीतने वाली भारतीय टीम के सदस्य थे । वह भारत की अंडर-19 टीम के उप-कप्तान थे जो 2016 अंडर-19 क्रिकेट विश्व कप में उपविजेता रही थी ।

उन्होंने जनवरी 2017 में भारत के लिए अपना टी20I डेब्यू, अगस्त 2018 में टेस्ट डेब्यू और अक्टूबर 2018 में वनडे डेब्यू किया। जनवरी 2019 में, पंत को 2018 ICC अवार्ड्स में ICC मेन्स इमर्जिंग क्रिकेटर ऑफ द ईयर चुना गया । फरवरी 2021 में, ICC प्लेयर ऑफ़ द मंथ अवार्ड्स के पहले संस्करण में पंत को मेन्स प्लेयर ऑफ़ द मंथ चुना गया।

जून 2022 में, पंत को दक्षिण अफ्रीका के खिलाफ टी20आई श्रृंखला के लिए भारतीय कप्तान के रूप में नामित किया गया था , क्योंकि नामित कप्तान केएल राहुल चोट के कारण श्रृंखला से बाहर हो गए थे।

प्रारंभिक जीवन --

ऋषभ पंत का जन्म 4 अक्टूबर 1997 को रुड़की , उत्तराखंड , भारत में राजेंद्र पंत और सरोज पंत के घर हुआ था। उनकी एक बड़ी बहन साक्षी पंत भी हैं। 12 साल की उम्र में, पंत अपनी माँ के साथ सप्ताहांत में सोनेट क्रिकेट अकादमी में तारक सिन्हा के साथ प्रशिक्षण लेने के लिए दिल्ली जाते थे। वह और उनकी माँ मोती बाग के एक गुरुद्वारे में रुके थे क्योंकि उनके पास शहर में रहने के लिए उपयुक्त जगह नहीं थी।

सिन्हा ने पंत को राजस्थान में जाकर अंडर-13 और अंडर-15 क्रिकेट खेलने का सुझाव दिया, लेकिन इसका कोई फायदा नहीं हुआ। पंत को उनके गुरु ने बेहतर बल्लेबाज बनने की उम्मीद में अपनी पूरी बल्लेबाजी तकनीक को बदलने का निर्देश दिया।  उनका टर्निंग पॉइंट तब आया जब वह असम के खिलाफ दिल्ली के लिए अंडर-19 क्रिकेट खेल रहे थे । पंत ने अपनी पहली पारी में 35 रन बनाकर शीर्ष स्कोर किया और फिर दूसरी पारी में 150 रन बनाए, जो उनके करियर की सबसे महत्वपूर्ण पारी थी।

1 फरवरी 2016 को, 2016 अंडर-19 क्रिकेट विश्व कप के दौरान, पंत ने नेपाल के खिलाफ 18 गेंदों में अर्धशतक लगाया , जो इस स्तर पर सबसे तेज़ था। 

पंत के पिता की मृत्यु 6 अप्रैल 2017 को हृदयाघात के कारण हो गई ।

घरेलू करियर --

पंत ने 22 अक्टूबर 2015 को 2015-16 रणजी ट्रॉफी  में प्रथम श्रेणी में पदार्पण किया और अगले महीने 2015-16 विजय हजारे ट्रॉफी में लिस्ट ए में पदार्पण किया ।

2016-17 के रणजी ट्रॉफी में , महाराष्ट्र के खिलाफ मैच खेलते हुए , पंत ने एक पारी में 308 रन बनाए, जिससे वह प्रथम श्रेणी क्रिकेट में तिहरा शतक बनाने वाले तीसरे सबसे कम उम्र के भारतीय बन गए।

8 नवंबर 2016 को पंत ने झारखंड के खिलाफ दिल्ली के मैच में सिर्फ 48 गेंदों पर रणजी ट्रॉफी का सबसे तेज शतक बनाया । 

फरवरी 2017 में, पंत को 2016-17 विजय हजारे ट्रॉफी के लिए दिल्ली का कप्तान बनाया गया। उन्होंने गौतम गंभीर से पदभार संभाला , जिन्होंने पिछले सीज़न में दिल्ली को फ़ाइनल तक पहुँचाया था। दिल्ली के कोच भास्कर पिल्लई ने कहा कि पंत को भविष्य के लिए तैयार करना "सर्वसम्मति से लिया गया निर्णय" था।

14 जनवरी 2018 को, हिमाचल प्रदेश और दिल्ली के बीच 2017-18 जोनल टी 20 लीग मैच में , पंत ने 32 गेंदों पर 100 रन बनाकर ट्वेंटी 20 मैच में दूसरा सबसे तेज शतक बनाया।

इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग --

पंत को 2016 इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग से पहले दिल्ली डेयरडेविल्स ने खरीदा था, उसी दिन उन्होंने 2016 अंडर-19 क्रिकेट विश्व कप में भारत की अंडर-19 टीम के लिए शतक बनाया था और उन्हें सेमीफाइनल में पहुंचाया था।  सीजन का अपना तीसरा गेम खेलते हुए, पंत ने 40 गेंदों पर 69 रन बनाकर दिल्ली को गुजरात लायंस पर आठ विकेट से जीत दिलाने में मदद की ।  2017 सीजन में , उन्होंने इसी टीम के खिलाफ 43 गेंदों पर 97 रन बनाए थे।

2018 इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग के दौरान , पंत ने सनराइजर्स हैदराबाद के खिलाफ 63 गेंदों में नाबाद 128 रन बनाए , जिससे यह आईपीएल इतिहास में किसी भारतीय क्रिकेटर द्वारा बनाया गया सर्वोच्च व्यक्तिगत स्कोर बन गया।  वह आईपीएल में शतक बनाने वाले दूसरे सबसे कम उम्र के खिलाड़ी भी बने।  उनके 128 के स्कोर में टीम के कुल स्कोर का 68.4% भी शामिल था, जिससे यह आईपीएल मैच में किसी व्यक्तिगत बल्लेबाज द्वारा बनाए गए रनों का दूसरा सबसे अधिक प्रतिशत बन गया । मार्च 2021 में, नियमित कप्तान श्रेयस अय्यर के चोटिल होने के कारण पूरे टूर्नामेंट से बाहर होने के बाद , पंत को 2021 इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग के लिए दिल्ली कैपिटल का कप्तान नामित किया गया था।  उन्हें 2022 आईपीएल सत्र के लिए भी कप्तान के रूप में बरकरार रखा गया था ।

लखनऊ सुपर जायंट्स ने नीलामी में पंत को रिकॉर्ड 27 करोड़ रुपये में खरीदा और उन्हें आईपीएल के इतिहास में सबसे महंगा खिलाड़ी बना दिया। मालिक ने 21 जनवरी को आगामी 2025 आईपीएल सीज़न के लिए ऋषभ को टीम का कप्तान घोषित किया ।  उन्होंने इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग 2025 में रॉयल चैलेंजर्स बेंगलुरु के खिलाफ एकाना क्रिकेट स्टेडियम में अपना दूसरा शतक बनाया ।

प्रारंभिक वर्ष (2017-19)

भारत बनाम इंग्लैंड सीरीज 2018 में ऋषभ पंत विकेटकीपिंग करेंगे

जनवरी 2017 में, पंत को इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ श्रृंखला के लिए भारत की ट्वेंटी 20 अंतर्राष्ट्रीय (टी 20 आई) टीम में नामित किया गया था । उन्होंने 1 फरवरी 2017 को बैंगलोर के एम. चिन्नास्वामी स्टेडियम में इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ तीसरे टी 20 आई में भारत के लिए पदार्पण किया। पंत 19 साल 120 दिन की उम्र में टी 20 आई मैच में भारत के लिए डेब्यू करने वाले सबसे कम उम्र के खिलाड़ी थे।

फरवरी 2018 में, उन्हें 2018 निदाहस ट्रॉफी के लिए भारत की टी20आई टीम में नामित किया गया था । जुलाई 2018 में, पंत को इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ श्रृंखला के लिए भारत की टेस्ट टीम में नामित किया गया था । उन्होंने 18 अगस्त 2018 को इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ टेस्ट क्रिकेट में पदार्पण किया। वह श्रृंखला में छक्के के साथ टेस्ट क्रिकेट में शुरुआत करने वाले भारत के पहले बल्लेबाज बने।  11 सितंबर 2018 को, पंत ने इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ अपना पहला टेस्ट शतक बनाया, वह इंग्लैंड में टेस्ट शतक बनाने वाले दूसरे सबसे कम उम्र के विकेटकीपर और पहले भारतीय विकेटकीपर भी बने। अगले महीने, उन्हें वेस्टइंडीज के खिलाफ श्रृंखला के लिए भारत की एक दिवसीय अंतर्राष्ट्रीय (वनडे) टीम में नामित किया गया ।  उन्होंने 21 अक्टूबर 2018 को वेस्टइंडीज के खिलाफ भारत के लिए अपना वनडे डेब्यू किया।

फॉर्म में गिरावट (2019–20) --

2019-20 के घरेलू सत्र को पंत के लिए एक महत्वपूर्ण सत्र के रूप में पेश किया गया था  जिसमें एमएस धोनी ने अंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट से विराम की घोषणा की थी। भारत पंत के साथ एक नए विकेटकीपिंग मुख्य आधार की तलाश में सीज़न में गया था।  हालांकि, बाएं हाथ के साधारण प्रदर्शन और केएल राहुल के विकेटकीपिंग विकल्प के रूप में उभरने का मतलब था कि पंत पेकिंग क्रम में नीचे खिसक गए।

2020 के आईपीएल सीज़न में निराशाजनक प्रदर्शन ने भी उनकी मदद नहीं की। पिछले दो सीज़न में 168 की स्ट्राइक रेट के साथ कुल 1172 रन बनाने वाले पंत केवल 113 की स्ट्राइक रेट के साथ 343 रन ही बना पाए।  उनका एकमात्र अर्धशतक फ़ाइनल में आया जिसमें टीम हार गई। 

इसके परिणामस्वरूप पंत को 2020-21 में ऑस्ट्रेलिया का दौरा करने वाली सीमित ओवरों की टीम से बाहर कर दिया गया । हालाँकि, उन्होंने टेस्ट टीम में अपनी जगह बनाए रखी, लेकिन एडिलेड में पहले टेस्ट की प्लेइंग इलेवन में जगह नहीं बना पाए।

फॉर्म में वापसी (2021–वर्तमान) --

भारत बॉर्डर गावस्कर ट्रॉफी 2020-21 के पहले टेस्ट की दूसरी पारी में 36 रन पर आउट हो गया और इसलिए पहली पारी में अच्छी बढ़त हासिल करने के बावजूद 8 विकेट से टेस्ट हार गया। इसके बाद, मेलबर्न में दूसरे टेस्ट के लिए रिद्धिमान साहा से आगे ऋषभ पंत को चुना गया ।

जबकि पंत ने मेलबर्न टेस्ट की पहली पारी में 29 रन बनाए,  यह सिडनी में था कि उन्होंने करियर बदलने वाली पारी खेली। आखिरी दिन 97 ओवर बचे होने पर, उन्होंने सिर्फ 118 गेंदों पर 97 रनों की जवाबी पारी खेली, साथ ही चेतेश्वर पुजारा के साथ 148 रनों की साझेदारी भी की । मैच अंततः ड्रॉ पर समाप्त हुआ ।

भारत के कई प्रथम पसंद खिलाड़ी चोट के कारण अनुपलब्ध थे, और द गब्बा में खेले गए मैच में वे अंडरडॉग थे जहाँ ऑस्ट्रेलिया 1988 से नहीं हारा था। पंत ने पाँचवे दिन मैच विजयी प्रदर्शन किया, क्योंकि भारत ने चौथी पारी में 328 रनों के लक्ष्य का पीछा करते हुए,  नाबाद 89 रन बनाए।

सितंबर 2021 में, पंत को 2021 आईसीसी पुरुष टी20 विश्व कप के लिए भारत की टीम में नामित किया गया था । जनवरी 2022 में वार्षिक आईसीसी पुरस्कारों में, पंत को 2021 के लिए आईसीसी पुरुष टेस्ट टीम ऑफ द ईयर में नामित किया गया था । मार्च 2022 में, श्रीलंका के खिलाफ दूसरे मैच के दौरान , पंत ने टेस्ट मैच में भारत के लिए बल्लेबाज द्वारा सबसे तेज अर्धशतक बनाया, जिसने कपिल देव द्वारा पहले बनाए गए रिकॉर्ड को तोड़ दिया । उन्होंने सिर्फ 28 गेंदों में अपना अर्धशतक पूरा किया |

2022 कार दुर्घटना --

30 दिसंबर 2022 को, पंत रुड़की के पास दिल्ली - देहरादून राजमार्ग पर एक लगभग घातक कार दुर्घटना में शामिल थे ।  उन्हें किसी भी गंभीर चोट से मुक्त कर दिया गया था और उनके सिर, पीठ और पैरों पर चोटें आने के बावजूद उनकी हालत स्थिर रही, जिसमें उनके माथे पर दो कट और दाहिने घुटने का लिगामेंट फटना शामिल था। उन्होंने अपनी दाहिनी कलाई, टखने और पैर के अंगूठे को भी चोट पहुंचाई और उनकी पीठ पर खरोंच के निशान आए। पंत को शुरू में नई दिल्ली के पास सक्षम अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया था, और उन्हें देहरादून के मैक्स अस्पताल में स्थानांतरित कर दिया गया था।  उनके मस्तिष्क और रीढ़ की एमआरआई स्कैन ने संकेत दिया कि वे सामान्य थे लेकिन उन्हें चेहरे की चोटों, घावों और घर्षण के लिए प्लास्टिक सर्जरी कराने की सलाह दी गई थी। दर्द और सूजन के कारण उनके टखने और घुटने के स्कैन स्थगित कर दिए गए थे।

प्रत्यक्षदर्शियों के अनुसार, पंत कथित तौर पर अपनी मर्सिडीज एसयूवी कार से नई दिल्ली से रुड़की (गृहनगर) जा रहे थे | और वाहन के अंदर वे अकेले व्यक्ति थे। कथित तौर पर कार में उस समय आग लग गई जब वह सड़क पर एक केंद्रीय डिवाइडर से टकराई। बताया गया है कि यह घटना सुबह 5.30 बजे हुई और कार सड़क के डिवाइडर से टकराने से पहले करीब 200 मीटर तक घिसटती रही । कुछ स्रोतों का दावा है कि गाड़ी चलाते समय पंत को नींद आ गई होगी। उन्हें बस चालक सुशील कुमार और बस कंडक्टर परमजीत सिंह ने बचाया, दोनों ही हरियाणा रोडवेज के कर्मचारी हैं । उनकी चोटों ने उन्हें 2024 के इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग में प्रतिस्पर्धी क्रिकेट में वापसी तक बाहर रखा |

18 गेंदों में अर्धशतक:

ऋषभ पंत ने 2016 अंडर-19 वर्ल्ड कप में नेपाल के खिलाफ सिर्फ 18 गेंदों में अर्धशतक लगाया था – यह टूर्नामेंट का सबसे तेज़ अर्धशतक था।

पिता की मौत के बाद भी खेले क्रिकेट मैच:

Biography --

Rishabh Pant is an Indian international cricketer who plays as a wicketkeeper batsman for the Indian cricket team. He is currently the vice-captain of the Indian cricket team in the Test format. He captains and plays for Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League and Delhi in domestic cricket.

Pant became the most expensive player in Indian Premier League history as he was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for ₹27.00 crore (US$3.2 million) in the Indian Premier League auction 2025. He was a member of the Indian team that won the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 Champions Trophy. He was the vice-captain of the India Under-19 team that finished runners-up in the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

He made his T20I debut for India in January 2017, Test debut in August 2018 and ODI debut in October 2018. In January 2019, Pant was named the ICC Men's Emerging Cricketer of the Year at the 2018 ICC Awards. In February 2021, Pant was named the Men's Player of the Month at the first edition of the ICC Player of the Month Awards.

In June 2022, Pant was named as the Indian captain for the T20I series against South Africa, as designated captain KL Rahul was ruled out of the series due to injury.

Early life --

Rishabh Pant was born on 4 October 1997 in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India to Rajendra Pant and Saroj Pant. He also has an elder sister Sakshi Pant. At the age of 12, Pant used to travel to Delhi with his mother on weekends to train with Tarak Sinha at the Sonnet Cricket Academy. He and his mother stayed at a gurdwara in Moti Bagh as they did not have a suitable place to stay in the city.

Sinha suggested Pant to go to Rajasthan and play Under-13 and Under-15 cricket, but it was of no use. Pant was instructed by his mentor to change his entire batting technique in the hope of becoming a better batsman. His turning point came when he was playing Under-19 cricket for Delhi against Assam. Pant top-scored with 35 in his first innings and then scored 150 in the second innings, which was the most important innings of his career.

On 1 February 2016, during the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup, Pant scored a half-century in 18 balls against Nepal, the fastest at this level.

Pant's father died on 6 April 2017 due to a heart attack.

Domestic career --

Pant made his first-class debut in the 2015–16 Ranji Trophy on 22 October 2015 and his List A debut in the 2015–16 Vijay Hazare Trophy the following month.

In the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy, playing a match against Maharashtra, Pant scored 308 runs in an innings, making him the third-youngest Indian to score a triple century in first-class cricket.

On 8 November 2016, Pant scored the fastest Ranji Trophy century off just 48 balls in Delhi's match against Jharkhand.

In February 2017, Pant was named captain of Delhi for the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He took over from Gautam Gambhir, who had led Delhi to the final the previous season. Delhi coach Bhaskar Pillai said it was a "consensus decision" to groom Pant for the future.

On 14 January 2018, in a 2017–18 Zonal T20 League match between Himachal Pradesh and Delhi, Pant scored the second-fastest century in a Twenty20 match, scoring 100 runs off 32 balls.

Indian Premier League --

Pant was bought by Delhi Daredevils ahead of the 2016 Indian Premier League, the same day he scored a century for India's Under-19 team in the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup, leading them to the semi-finals. Playing his third game of the season, Pant scored 69 runs off 40 balls to help Delhi win by eight wickets over Gujarat Lions. In the 2017 season, he scored 97 runs off 43 balls against the same team.

During the 2018 Indian Premier League, Pant scored an unbeaten 128 off 63 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad, making it the highest individual score by an Indian cricketer in IPL history. He also became the second-youngest player to score a century in the IPL. His score of 128 also comprised 68.4% of the team's total score, making it the second-highest percentage of runs scored by an individual batsman in an IPL match. In March 2021, Pant was named the captain of the Delhi Capitals for the 2021 Indian Premier League, after regular captain Shreyas Iyer was ruled out of the entire tournament due to an injury. He was also retained as the captain for the 2022 IPL season.

Lucknow Super Giants bought Pant for a record Rs 27 crore in the auction making him the most expensive player in IPL history. The owners announced Rishabh as the captain of the team for the upcoming 2025 IPL season on 21 January. He scored his second century in the Indian Premier League 2025 against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.

International career --

Early years (2017–19)

In January 2017, Pant was named in India's Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for the series against England. He made his debut for India in the third T20I against England at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on 1 February 2017. Pant was the youngest player to debut for India in a T20I match at the age of 19 years and 120 days.

In February 2018, he was named in India's T20I squad for the 2018 Nidahas Trophy. In July 2018, Pant was named in India's Test squad for the series against England. He made his Test debut against England on 18 August 2018. He became the first batsman for India to debut in Test cricket with a six in the series. On 11 September 2018, Pant scored his maiden Test century against England, also becoming the second-youngest wicketkeeper and the first Indian wicketkeeper to score a Test century in England. The following month, he was named in India's One Day International (ODI) squad for the series against the West Indies. He made his ODI debut for India against the West Indies on 21 October 2018.

In December 2018, during the first Test against Australia, Pant took eleven catches, the most by a wicketkeeper for India in a Test match. In January 2019, during the fourth Test against Australia, Pant became the first wicketkeeper for India to score a century in a Test match in Australia.

In June 2019, Pant was called up to India's squad in the 2019 Cricket World Cup as a replacement for Shikhar Dhawan, who suffered a hairline fracture of his left thumb during India's game against Australia. Following the World Cup, the International Cricket Council (ICC) named Pant as the rising star of the squad.

In September 2019, during the second Test against the West Indies, Pant became the fastest Indian wicketkeeper to take fifty dismissals in Test cricket. In January 2021, during the fourth Test against Australia, Pant became the fastest Indian wicketkeeper to reach 1,000 runs in Test cricket.

Decline in form (2019–20) --

The 2019–20 domestic season was projected as a crucial one for Pant with MS Dhoni announcing a break from international cricket. India went into the season looking for a new wicketkeeping mainstay with Pant as the new captain. However, the left-hander's ordinary performances and the emergence of KL Rahul as a wicketkeeping option meant that Pant slipped down the pecking order.

A disappointing performance in the 2020 IPL season did not help him either. Pant, who had scored a total of 1172 runs with a strike rate of 168 in the previous two seasons, managed only 343 runs with a strike rate of 113. His only half-century came in the final which the team lost.

This resulted in Pant being dropped from the limited-overs squad that toured Australia in 2020–21. However, he retained his place in the Test squad, but failed to make it to the playing XI of the first Test in Adelaide.

During this, Pant was heavily criticised by fans and the media. He was often compared with Indian cricket legend MS Dhoni. There were several occasions when Pant made a mistake on the field and the crowd chanted "Dhoni! Dhoni!"

Return to form (2021–present) --

India were bowled out for 36 in the second innings of the first Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2020–21 and hence lost the Test by 8 wickets despite gaining a good lead in the first innings. Following this, Rishabh Pant was selected ahead of Wriddhiman Saha for the second Test in Melbourne.

While Pant scored 29 in the first innings of the Melbourne Test, it was in Sydney that he played a career-changing innings. With 97 overs left on the last day, he scored a reply-back of 97 runs off just 118 balls, also sharing a 148-run partnership with Cheteshwar Pujara. The match eventually ended in a draw.

India had several first-choice players unavailable due to injury, and were underdogs in a match played at The Gabba where Australia had not lost since 1988. Pant produced a match-winning performance on day five as India chased down a target of 328 in the fourth innings, scoring an unbeaten 89.

In September 2021, Pant was named in India's squad for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. At the annual ICC Awards in January 2022, Pant was named in the ICC Men's Test Team of the Year for 2021. In March 2022, during the second match against Sri Lanka, Pant scored the fastest half-century by a batsman for India in a Test match, breaking the record previously held by Kapil Dev. He reached his half-century in just 28 balls.

In May 2022, Pant was named as the vice-captain of the Indian squad for the India tour of South Africa 2022 series. However, a day before the first match of the series, Pant was named as the captain, as India captain KL Rahul was ruled out of the series due to injury. At the age of 24 years and 248 days, Pant became the second-youngest captain to lead India in a T20I match. In July 2022, in the final match of India's tour of England, Pant recorded his first century in ODI cricket, remaining unbeaten on 125 runs.

In April 2024, Pant was named in India's squad for the T20 World Cup to be held in June, marking his first return to international cricket since his horrific car accident in late 2022. His game management was praised as playing a key role in India's victory in the final against South Africa. In June 2025, he became the first Indian cricketer to score centuries in both innings of a Test in England.

2022 car accident --

On 30 December 2022, Pant was involved in a near-fatal car accident on the Delhi-Dehradun highway near Roorkee. He was cleared of any serious injuries and his condition remained stable despite suffering injuries to his head, back and legs, including two cuts on his forehead and a torn ligament of his right knee. He also injured his right wrist, ankle and toe and suffered abrasions on his back. Pant was initially admitted to Saksham Hospital near New Delhi, and was shifted to Max Hospital in Dehradun. MRI scans of his brain and spine indicated that they were normal but he was advised to undergo plastic surgery for facial injuries, lacerations and abrasions. Scans of his ankle and knee were postponed due to pain and swelling.

According to eyewitnesses, Pant was reportedly travelling from New Delhi to Roorkee (his hometown) in his Mercedes SUV car and was the only person inside the vehicle. The car reportedly caught fire when it hit a central divider on the road. The incident is reported to have taken place at 5.30 am and the car dragged for about 200 metres before hitting the road divider. Some sources claim that Pant may have fallen asleep while driving. He was rescued by bus driver Sushil Kumar and bus conductor Paramjeet Singh, both employees of Haryana Roadways. His injuries kept him out until his return to competitive cricket in the 2024 Indian Premier League.
