भारतीय मनोरंजन जगत में कुछ ही अभिनेत्रियाँ ऐसी हैं जिन्होंने टेलीविज़न की छोटी स्क्रीन से शुरुआत करके बॉलीवुड और दक्षिण भारतीय सिनेमा दोनों में अपनी अलग पहचान बनाई है। मृणाल ठाकुर ऐसी ही एक अभिनेत्री हैं, जिनका सफर संघर्ष, समर्पण और अटूट विश्वास की मिसाल है। 1 अगस्त 1992 को महाराष्ट्र के धुले जिले में जन्मी मृणाल ने अपने करियर की शुरुआत टेलीविज़न से की और आज वह हिंदी, मराठी और तेलुगु सिनेमा की जानी-मानी चेहरा हैं ।

मृणाल ठाकुर का जन्म 1 अगस्त 1992 को महाराष्ट्र के धुले जिले में एक मराठी परिवार में हुआ था । उनकी राशि सिंह है और वह हिंदू धर्म का पालन करती हैं । उनके पिता का नाम उदयसिंह बी ठाकुर और माता का नाम वंदना ठाकुर है । उनके दो भाई-बहन हैं - मंदर ठाकुर और लोचन ठाकुर ।

"उन दिनों मैं टाउन में रहती थी। अंधेरी पहुँचने के लिए, मैं टाउन से वडाला के लिए लोकल ट्रेन लेती थी, फिर वडाला से अंधेरी के लिए ट्रेन बदलती थी, और अंधेरी स्टेशन से इंफिनिटी मॉल जाने के लिए बस लेती थी। सभी ऑडिशन अंधेरी में होते थे। इंफिनिटी मॉल पहुँचने के बाद, मैं उसके बाथरूम में कपड़े बदलती थी, फिर ऑडिशन के लिए जाती थी।" 

यह उनके संघर्ष और समर्पण को दर्शाता है। वह न केवल ऑडिशन के लिए जाती थीं, बल्कि अपनी पढ़ाई भी जारी रखती थीं।

अस्वीकृति और कठोर आलोचना––

फिल्म इंडस्ट्री में आने के बाद मृणाल को कई बार अस्वीकृति का सामना करना पड़ा । कास्टिंग डायरेक्टर्स उन्हें 'सिर्फ एक टीवी चेहरा' कहकर खारिज कर देते थे । उन्होंने बताया कि जब वह नई थीं, तो उनके साथ बहुत बुरा व्यवहार किया गया और वह घर आकर बहुत रोती थीं ।

सबसे दर्दनाक अनुभव था बॉडी शेमिंग का। सोशल मीडिया पर ट्रोल्स ने उनके नाशपाती के आकार के शरीर का मजाक उड़ाया और उन्हें 'मटका' (मिट्टी का बर्तन) जैसे अपशब्द कहे । कास्टिंग डायरेक्टर्स ने यहाँ तक कह दिया कि वह 'हीरोइन टाइप' नहीं हैं ।

अंधकारमय क्षण: आत्महत्या के विचार––

यह आलोचना इतनी गहरी चोट पहुँचाती थी कि मृणाल ने आत्महत्या के बारे में भी सोचा। रणवीर अल्लाहबादिया के साथ एक इंटरव्यू में उन्होंने खुलासा किया:

"मैं लोकल ट्रेनों में दरवाजे के पास खड़ी होकर सफर करती थी। एक समय ऐसा आया जब काम न मिलने के कारण ट्रेन से कूदकर आत्महत्या करने के विचार मन में आते थे। मुझे पता था कि ऐसा करना सही नहीं है, लेकिन जब आपका साहस टूट जाता है, तो ऐसे विचार बार-बार आते रहते हैं। मेरा एक ही संदेश है - धैर्य आपका सबसे बड़ा साथी है और यही आपकी मदद करता है।" 

इस कठिन समय में उनके परिवार ने उनका साथ दिया और उन्हें आगे बढ़ने के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया ।

हार न मानने का संकल्प––

इन सब कठिनाइयों के बावजूद, मृणाल ने हार नहीं मानी। वह अपनी मेहनत और लगन पर विश्वास रखती रहीं । बाद में उन्होंने कहा:

"लचीलापन (Resilience) सबसे महत्वपूर्ण सबक है जो मैंने वर्षों में सीखा है।" 

फिल्मों में पदार्पण - 'लव सोनिया' से शुरुआत––

मृणाल ने हिंदी फिल्मों में आने से पहले मराठी सिनेमा में काम किया। उनके माता-पिता चाहते थे कि वह मराठी फिल्मों से शुरुआत करें क्योंकि वह खुद मराठी हैं । उनकी पहली मराठी फिल्म 'हेलो नंदन' थी, जिसके बाद उन्होंने दो और मराठी फिल्मों में काम किया ।
