नीम करौली बाबा (Neem Karoli Baba) की जीवनी:--

नीम करौली बाबा, जिन्हें महाराज जी के नाम से भी जाना जाता है, का जन्म अकबरपुर, फिरोजाबाद (उत्तर प्रदेश) में हुआ था। उनके जन्म की सही तिथि अज्ञात है, लेकिन माना जाता है कि वे लगभग 1900 के आसपास पैदा हुए थे। उनके बचपन का नाम लक्ष्मी नारायण शर्मा था। बचपन से ही वे आध्यात्मिक प्रवृत्ति के थे और अक्सर ध्यान व भक्ति में लीन रहते थे।

उनका जन्म एक धनी ब्राह्मण परिवार में हुआ, 11 वर्ष की उम्र में उनके माता-पिता द्वारा शादी कर दिए जाने के बाद, उन्होंने साधु बनने के लिए घर छोड़ दिया। बाद में वह अपने पिता के अनुरोध पर, वैवाहिक जीवन जीने के लिए घर लौट आए। वह दो बेटों और एक बेटी के पिता बने।

ऐसा माना जाता है कि जब तक महाराजजी 17 वर्ष  के थे उनको इतनी छोटी सी आयु  मे सारा ज्ञान था| बताते है , भगवान श्री हनुमान उनके गुरु है| उन्होंने भारत में कई स्थानों का दौरा किया और विभिन्न राज्यों में अलग-अलग नामों से जाने जाते थे। गंजम में मां तारा तारिणी शक्ति पीठ की यात्रा के दौरान स्थानीय लोगों ने उन्हें हनुमानजी, चमत्कारी बाबा के नाम से संबोधित किया करते थे।

कहा जाता है कि एक बार बाबा ट्रेन में सफर कर रहे थे।लेकिन उनके पास टिकट नहीं था। जिस कारण टीटी अफसर ने उन्हें पकड़ लिया। बिना टिकट होने के कारण अफसर ने उन्हें अगले स्टेशन में उतरने को कहा।स्टेशन का नाम नीम करोली था।स्टेशन के पास के गांव को नीम करोली के नाम से जाना जाता है। बाबा को गाड़ी से उतार दिया गया और ऑफिसर ने ड्राइवर से गाड़ी चलाने का आदेश दिया। बाबा वहां से कहीं नहीं गए। उन्होंने ट्रेन के पास ही एक चिमटा धरती पर लगाकर बैठ गए।

चालक ने बहुत प्रयास किया लेकिन ट्रेन आगे ना चली। ट्रेन आगे ना चलने का नाम ही नहीं ले रही थी। तभी गाड़ी में बैठे सभी लोगों ने कहा यह बाबा का प्रकोप है।उन्हें गाड़ी से उतार देने का कारण ही है कि गाड़ी नहीं चल रही है। तभी वहां बड़े ऑफिसर जो कि बाबा से परिचित थे। उन्होंने बाबा से क्षमा मांगी और ड्राइवर और टिकट चेकर दोनों को बाबा से माफी मांगने को कहा।सब ने मिलकर बाबा को मनाया और उनसे माफी मांगी। माफी मांगने के बाद बाबा ने सम्मानपूर्वक ट्रेन पर बैठ गए। लेकिन उन्होंने यह शर्त रखी कि इस जगह पर स्टेशन बनाया जाएगा।जिससे वहां के गांव के लोग को ट्रेन में आने के लिए आसानी हो जाए क्योंकि वहां लोग आने के लिए मिलो दूर से चलकर आते थे। तब जाकर ट्रेन में बैठ पाते थे।उन्होंने बाबा से वादा किया और वहां पर नीम करोली नाम का स्टेशन बन गया। यहीं से बाबा की चमत्कारी कहानियां प्रसिद्ध हो गई और इस स्थान से पूरी दुनिया में बाबा का नाम नीम करोली बाबा के नाम से जाना जाने लगा।यही से बाबा को नीम करोली नाम मिला था।

आध्यात्मिक यात्रा:--

युवावस्था में ही उन्होंने घर छोड़ दिया और साधु-संतों के साथ रहकर ज्ञान की खोज शुरू की। वे कई वर्षों तक हिमालय और अन्य तीर्थ स्थानों की यात्रा करते रहे। उनके गुरु के बारे में विवरण स्पष्ट नहीं है, लेकिन कहा जाता है कि उन्होंने हनुमान जी की गहरी भक्ति की और उन्हें अपना आध्यात्मिक मार्गदर्शक माना।

नीम करौली गाँव और नामकरण:--

वे नीम करौली नामक एक छोटे से गाँव (उत्तराखंड के कुमाऊँ क्षेत्र में) में रहने लगे, जहाँ से उनका नाम नीम करौली बाबा प्रसिद्ध हुआ। उनका आश्रम वहाँ आज भी एक प्रमुख तीर्थ स्थान है।

शिक्षाएँ और चमत्कार

नीम करौली बाबा भक्ति, प्रेम और सेवा पर जोर देते थे। उनका मानना था कि "सब एक ही हैं" और ईश्वर का सच्चा साक्षात्कार प्रेम और भक्ति से ही होता है। उनके अनुयायियों के अनुसार, वे अलौकिक शक्तियों (सिद्धियों) के स्वामी थे—जैसे समय और स्थान से परे होना, भक्तों के मन की बात जान लेना और चमत्कारिक रूप से लोगों की मदद करना।

प्रसिद्ध शिष्य

उनके कई प्रसिद्ध शिष्य हुए, जिनमें से कुछ हैं:

राम दास (Richard Alpert) – हार्वर्ड यूनिवर्सिटी के प्रोफेसर और "Be Here Now" किताब के लेखक।

भगवान दास – अमेरिकी योगी और लेखक।

मार्क जुकरबर्ग (Mark Zuckerberg) और स्टीव जॉब्स (Steve Jobs) ने भी उनके बारे में सुना और प्रभावित हुए।

महासमाधि:--

11 सितंबर, 1973 को वृंदावन (उत्तर प्रदेश) में उन्होंने अपना शरीर त्याग दिया। उनकी समाधि स्थल कैंची धाम (नीम करौली), वृंदावन और टाटा कॉर्पोरेशन (लखनऊ) में हैं।

विरासत:--

उनके उपदेशों और प्रेम के संदेश ने पूरी दुनिया में लाखों लोगों को प्रभावित किया। उनके नाम पर कई आश्रम, मंदिर और सेवा संस्थान चलाए जा रहे हैं, जैसे:

नीम करौली बाबा के प्रमुख उपदेश:--

"सबसे बड़ी पूजा सेवा है।"

"भगवान का नाम लो, मन में प्रेम रखो।"

"डरो मत, ईश्वर सबके साथ है।"

"सच्चा गुरु वही है जो तुम्हें स्वयं में ईश्वर का दर्शन कराए।"

2. संन्यास और आध्यात्मिक खोज

युवावस्था में ही घर छोड़कर हिमालय, वृंदावन, काशी और अन्य तीर्थों की यात्रा की।

कई संतों और सिद्धों से मिले, लेकिन उनके गुरु का नाम स्पष्ट नहीं है। कहा जाता है कि उन्हें हनुमान जी का साक्षात्कार हुआ था।

"नीम करौली" नाम कैसे पड़ा?

वे कुमाऊँ (उत्तराखंड) के एक छोटे से गाँव नीम करौली में एक पेड़ के नीचे धूनी रमाकर रहने लगे। यहीं से उनका नाम "नीम करौली बाबा" प्रसिद्ध हुआ।

3. शिक्षाएँ और दर्शन:--

"सबको प्रेम दो, सबकी सेवा करो – यही सच्ची पूजा है।"

"भगवान का नाम लेते रहो, मन में प्रेम रखो, बाकी सब झूठ है।"

"डरो मत, ईश्वर हमेशा तुम्हारे साथ है।"

"गुरु वही है जो तुम्हें स्वयं में भगवान का दर्शन कराए।"

वे हनुमान चालीसा के पाठ पर विशेष जोर देते थे।

4. चमत्कार और लीलाएँ:--

नीम करौली बाबा को महासिद्ध माना जाता था। उनके कुछ प्रसिद्ध चमत्कार:

अदृश्य हो जाना: कई बार वे अचानक गायब हो जाते थे और दूसरे स्थान पर प्रकट होते थे।

भक्तों के मन की बात जान लेना: बिना बताए ही वे लोगों की समस्याएँ समझ लेते थे।

अन्न की अक्षय पेटी: उनके आश्रम में कितने भी लोग आ जाएँ, भोजन कभी कम नहीं पड़ता था।

रोगों का ठीक करना: कई लोगों को उनके स्पर्श या आशीर्वाद से चमत्कारिक रूप से स्वास्थ्य लाभ मिला।

जूलिया रॉबर्ट्स (Julia Roberts) हॉलीवुड अभिनेत्री, जो हिंदू धर्म और बाबा की शिक्षाओं से प्रभावित हैं।

7. नीम करौली बाबा के प्रमुख आश्रम:--

कैंची धाम (नीम करौली, उत्तराखंड) – मुख्य आश्रम।

हनुमान गढ़ी (वृंदावन) – यहाँ हनुमान जी की विशाल मूर्ति है।

ताड़केश्वर धाम (कोलकाता) – जहाँ बाबा ने कुछ समय बिताया।

अमेरिका में भी कई केन्द्र, जैसे Neem Karoli Baba Ashram, Taos, New Mexico।

8. नीम करौली बाबा की विरासत:--

अन्नक्षेत्र (मुफ्त भोजनालय): उनके आश्रमों में हज़ारों लोगों को निःशुल्क भोजन दिया जाता है।

"Love All, Serve All" – उनका प्रसिद्ध संदेश, जो दुनियाभर में फैला।

कई पुस्तकें और डॉक्यूमेंट्री उनके जीवन पर बनीं, जैसे:

"Miracle of Love" (राम दास द्वारा)

"Fierce Grace" (डॉक्यूमेंट्री)

"जब तक तुम स्वयं को भगवान नहीं समझोगे, तब तक तुम उन्हें नहीं पा सकते।"

बाबा की अनन्य भक्त सिद्धि मां:--

सिद्धि मां के बारे में लेखिका लिखती हैं- वर्ष 1930 के मध्य की बात होगी. अल्मोड़ा के बाजार में चहल-पहल हो रही थी. तभी वहां के स्थानीय लोगों ने सहसा धोती पहने और कम्बल ओढ़े एक लंबी-चौड़ी काया के व्यक्ति को नगर के व्यापारी प्यारे लाल साह की दुकान पर देखा. इस आगमन के महत्व का किसी को भान तक नहीं था. ये अभ्यागत स्वयं नीम करोली बाबा थे जो साह की सात वर्षीय कन्या सिद्धि को आशीर्वाद देने आए थे. यही नन्हीं बालिका सिद्धि कालान्तर में बाबा की परम भक्त और शिष्य बनी.

सिद्धि मां का जन्म 1928 की चैत्र नवरात्रि की दशमी तिथि को अल्मोड़ा के साह परिवार में हुआ था. उनका नाम हरिप्रिया रखा गया. लेकिन पिता उन्हें प्यार से सिद्धि नाम से पुकारते थे. 1944 में 16 वर्ष की आयु में सिद्धि का विवाह नैनीताल के प्रसिद्ध वकील तुलाराम साह के साथ सम्पन्न हुआ.

यह परिवार भी नीम करोली बाबा का भक्त था और बाबा यहां समय-समय पर सत्संग के लिए पधारा करते थे. समय बीतने के साथ सिद्धि मां और उनका पूरा परिवार बाबा के साथ भारत के विभिन्न मंदिरों और तीर्थ स्थलों की यात्रा पर जाने लगा. 1962 में तुलाराम जी का देहांत हो गया. इस घटना के बाद नीम करोली बाबा ने जीवंती मां को गीता भवन में सिद्धि मां के साथ ही रहने का आदेश दिया. इसके एक वर्ष के बाद सिद्धि मां अपने गृहस्थ जीवन को सदा के लिए त्यागकर जीवंती मां के साथ कैंची आश्रम आ गईं |

कैंची गांव का धाम बनने की कथा:--

पुस्तक में कैंची गांव का कैंची धाम बनने का बड़ा सुंदर वर्णन है. पुस्तक में लिखा है- साठ के दशक के प्रारंभ की बात है. सिद्धि मां बाबा के साथ शीतलाखेत जा रही थीं. रानीखेत पहुंचने पर टेलीफोन से समाचार मिला कि सिद्धि मां के परिवार में किसी निकट संबंधी का देहांत हो गया है. यह सुनकर महाराज ने सिद्धि मां को नैनीताल वापस लौट जाने का आदेश दिया. वापस लौटते हुए रास्ते में नदी के किनारे एक घने जंगल के पास गाड़ी रुकवाकर महाराज स्वयं उतर गए. सिद्धि मां ने महाराज का हाथ पकड़कर उन्हें नदी पार कराई. नदी के पास जंगल में एक पेड़ के नीचे एक बड़ी पाषाण शिला थी. महाराज उस पर बैठ गए और सिद्धि मां से कहा कि उनके लौटने पर वह उन्हें यहीं मिलेंगे. वहां से वापस आते हुए सिद्धि मां ने एक स्थानीय निवासी से उस जगह का नाम पूछा तो उसने उत्तर दिया- कैंची. यहीं सिद्धि मां का कैंची से पहला परिचय हुआ जो बाद में उनके जीवन की कर्मभूमि बना. जिस चट्टान पर महाराजजी उस दिन बैठे थे उसे कैंची धाम में अब महाराजजी की शिला के नाम से जाना जाता है.

नीम करोली बाबा के बुलेटप्रूफ कंबल की कहानी (Neem Karoli Baba Story in Hindi):--

नीम करोली बाबा हमेशा ही कंबल ओढ़ा करते थे. रिचर्ड एलपर्ट (रामदास) ने अपनी किताब ‘मिरेकल ऑफ लव’ पर बुलेटप्रूफ कंबल से जुड़ी घटना का जिक्र किया है. रिचर्ड एलपर्ट ने बताया कि, बाबा के कई भक्तों में एक बुजुर्ग दंपति भी थे, जोकि फतेहगढ़ में रहते थे. बाबा के चमत्कारी कंबल की यह घटना 1943 से जुड़ी है |

एक दिन बाबा (Neem Karoli Baba) अचानक बुजुर्ग दंपति के घर पर पहुंच गए. इसके बाद बाबा ने कहा कि वह रात में यहीं रुकेंगे. बाबा की बात सुनकर बुजुर्ग दंपति भक्त को बहुत खुशी हुई. लेकिन बुजुर्ग दंपति गरीब थे और वे सोचने लगे कि अगर बाबा रुके तो सत्कार और सेवा के लिए उनके पास कुछ नहीं है. दंपति के पास उस समय जो कुछ भी पर्याप्त था, उन्होंने उस समय बाबा को दिया और उनका सत्कार किया. भोजन के बाद उन्होंने बाबा को सोने के लिए एक चारपाई और ओढ़ने के लिए कंबल दी, जिसे ओढ़कर बाबा सो गए |

इसके बाद बुजुर्ग दंपत्ति भी बाबा के चारपाई के पास ही सो गए. बाबा कंबल ओढ़कर सो रहे थे और ऐसे कराह रहे थे जैसे उन्हें कोई मार रहा है. दंपति सोचने लगे कि बाबा को आखिर क्या हो गया. जैसे-तैसे रात बीती और सुबह हो गई. बाबा ने सुबह चादर लपेटकर बजुर्ग दंपति को दे दी और कहा कि इसे गंगा में प्रवाहित कर देना. लेकिन इसे खोलकर नहीं देखना वरना मुसीबत में फंस सकते हो. बाबा ने यह भी कहा कि, आप चिंता न करें आपका बेटा महीने भर के भीतर लौट आएगा. दंपति भी बाबा की कही बातों का पालन करते चादर को गंगा में प्रवाहित करने के लिए ले जा रहे थे.

चादर लेकर जाते समय दंपति को ऐसा महसूस किया हुआ कि चादर में कुछ लोहे जैसा सामान है. लेकिन बाबा ने तो खाली चादर दी थी. बाबा ने चादर खोलने को मना किया था. इसलिए दंपति ने बिना उसे खोले वैसे ही नदी में प्रवाहित कर दिया. बाबा के कहेनुसार एक महीने बाद बुजुर्ग दंपति का बेटा भी बर्मा फ्रंट से घर लौट आया. यह दंपति का इकलौता बेटा था, जोकि ब्रिटिश फौज में सैनिक था और दूसरे विश्वयुद्ध के समय बर्मा फ्रंट पर तैनात था. बेटे को घर पर देख बुजुर्ग दंपति की खुशी का ठिकाना नहीं रहा. लेकिन बेटे ने अपने माता-पिता को ऐसी घटना के बारे में बताया, जिसे सुनकर वो हैरान रह गए. 

बेटे ने कहा कि, लगभग महीने भर पहले एक दिन वह दुश्मन फौजों के बीच घिर गया और रातभर गोलीबारी होती रही. इस युद्ध में उसके सारे साथी भी मारे गए लेकिन वह अकेला बच गया. बेटे ने कहा कि मैं कैसे बच गया यह मुझे भी मालूम नहीं. उसने कहा कि उसपर खूब गोलीबारी हुई लेकिन एक भी गोली उसे नहीं लगी.

रातभर वह जापानी दुश्मनों के बीच लड़ता रहा और जीवित बच गया. इसके बाद सुबह ब्रिटिश फौज की और टुकड़ी आई. दरअसल यह वही रात थी, जिस रात नीम करोली बाबा (Neem Karoli Baba) बुजुर्ग दंपति के घर आए और रुके थे. बुजुर्ग दंपति की आंखे भर आई कि उनका बेटा सकुशल घर वापस आ गया. साथ ही दंपति बाबा के चमत्कार को भी समझ गए थे. यही कारण है कि अपनी किताब ‘मिरेकल ऑफ लव’ में रिचर्ड एलपर्ट ने इस कंबल को बुलेटप्रूफ कंबल कहा है. आज भी कैंची धाम स्थित मंदिर (neem karoli baba ashram kainchi dham) में बाबा के भक्त कंबल चढ़ाते हैं. बाबा खुद भी हमेशा कंबल ओढ़ा करते थे|

नीम करौली बाबा के 5 चमत्कार:--

1. एक बार बाबा फर्स्ट क्लास कम्पार्टमेंट में सफर कर रहे थे। जब टिकट चेकर आया तो बाबा के पास टिकट नहीं था। तब बाबा को अगले स्टेशन 'नीब करोली' में ट्रेन से उतार दिया गया। बाबा थोड़ी दूर पर ही अपना चिपटा धरती में गाड़कर बैठ गए। ऑफिशल्स ने ट्रेन को चलाने का आर्डर दिया और गार्ड ने ट्रेन को हरी झंडी दिखाई, परंतु ट्रेन एक इंच भी अपनी जगह से नहीं हिली। बहुत प्रयास करने के बाद भी जब ट्रेन नहीं चली तो लोकल मजिस्ट्रेट जो बाबा को जानता था उसने ऑफिशल्स को बाबा से माफी मांगने और उन्हें सम्मान पूर्वक अंदर लाने को कहा। ट्रेन में सवार अन्य लोगों ने भी मजिस्ट्रेड का समर्थन किया। ऑफिशल्स ने बाबा से माफी मांगी और उन्हें ससम्मान ट्रेन में बैठाया। बाबा के ट्रेन में बैठते ही ट्रेन चल पड़ी। तभी से बाबा का नाम नीम करोली पड़ गया। 

2. एक बार उन्‍होंने अपने एक विदेशी अनुयायी को ब्‍लडप्रेशर की दवा का सेवन करते हुए देखा। नीम करौली बाबा ने उससे दवा की शीशी मांगी और उसे खोलकर उसमें रखी दवा की सारी गोलियां खा गए। यह देखकर अनुयायी काफी घबरा गया और जल्‍द ही एम्‍बुलेंस बुलाने की तैयारी में लग गया। परंतु घंटों बीत जाने के पश्‍चात भी बाबा को कुछ नहीं हुआ। वे पहले की तरह ही मुस्‍करा रहे थे और शांत थे।

3. एक बार एक विदेशी अनुयायी अपने पति को लेकर नीम करौली बाबा के पास पहुंची थीं। उस विदेशी महिला का पति बाबाओं को नहीं मानता था और न ही उसका धर्म में विश्‍वास था, परंतु पत्नी के कहने पर वह यहां आया था। वह व्यक्ति आश्रम और नीम करौली बाबा को देखकर सोचने लगा कि इन साधारण से व्यक्ति के पीछे मेरी पत्नी पागल है। फिर वह वहां से उठकर चला गया। रात में वह नदी के किनारे खड़ा अपने, पत्नी के और भविष्य के बारे में सोचने लगा। दूसरे दिन सुबह वह पुन: अपने देश जाने से पूर्व औपचारिकतावश पत्नी के कहने पर नीम करौली बाबा के दर्शन करने गया। वहां बाबा ने उसे बुलाकर पूछा कि तुम यहां आकर क्या सोच रहे थे? और तुम नदी के किनारे खड़े हुआ क्या सोच रहे थे? क्या तुम यह सब जानता चाहते हो? तब बाबा ने वह सब बता दिया जो वह सोच रहा था। यह सुनकर उसे बाबा पर विश्‍वास हो गया। 

4. रिचर्ड एलपर्ट (रामदास) ने 1979 में नीम करोली बाबा के चमत्कारों पर 'मिरेकल ऑफ़ लव' नामक एक किताब लिखी इसी में 'बुलेटप्रूफ कंबल' नाम से एक घटना का जिक्र है। बाबा हमेशा कंबल ही ओड़ा करते थे। आज भी लोग जब उनके मंदिर जाते हैं तो उन्हें कंबल भेंट करते हैं। इसी कंबल की एक कहानी है। बाबा के कई भक्त थे। उनमें से ही एक बुजुर्ग दंपत्ति थे जो फतेहगढ़ में रहते थे। यह घटना 1943 की है। एक दिन अचानक बाबा उनके घर पहुंच गए और कहने लगे वे रात में यहीं रुकेंगे। दोनों दंपत्ति को अपार खुशी तो हुई, लेकिन उन्हें इस बात का दुख भी था कि घर में महाराज की सेवा करने के लिए कुछ भी नहीं था। हालांकि जो भी था उन्हों बाबा के समक्ष प्रस्तुत कर दिया। बाबा वह खाकर एक चारपाई पर लेट गए और कंबल ओढ़कर सो गए।

5. जूलिया रॉबर्ट ने बाबा को कभी नहीं देखा था परंतु उनके सपने में बाबा अक्सर आ जाते थे। एक दिन उन्होंने उनका चित्र कहीं पर देखा और वे तभी से उनकी भक्त बन गई थी। जूलिया रॉबर्ट ने उनके चित्र देखकर और अमेरिका में निवास कर रहे उनके अनुयायियों से उनके किस्‍से सुनकर हिन्‍दू धर्म को अंगीकार कर लिया।

नीम करौली बाबा और स्टीव जॉब्स की कहानी:--

सन् 1974 में, स्टीव जॉब्स ने एप्पल शुरू करने से पहले आत्मिक शांति और गहराई की खोज में भारत की यात्रा की। उस समय वे मात्र 19 वर्ष के थे। जॉब्स उस वक्त ज़ेन बुद्धिज़्म और ध्यान के प्रभाव में थे, और उन्होंने सुना था कि भारत में एक संत हैं – नीम करौली बाबा – जिनके पास अलौकिक ज्ञान और आध्यात्मिक शक्ति है।

भारत यात्रा और केँचीन धाम की ओर:--

स्टीव जॉब्स अपने मित्र डैन कोटल्के के साथ भारत आए थे। उनका उद्देश्य नीम करौली बाबा से मिलना और उनके दर्शन करना था। वे उत्तराखंड के नैनीताल ज़िले में स्थित केँचीन धाम आश्रम पहुँचे।

Biography of Neem Karoli Baba:--

Neem Karoli Baba, also known as Maharaj Ji, was born in Akbarpur, Firozabad (Uttar Pradesh). The exact date of his birth is unknown, but he is believed to have been born around 1900. His childhood name was Lakshmi Narayan Sharma. From childhood, he was of spiritual inclination and was often absorbed in meditation and devotion.

He was born in a wealthy Brahmin family, after being married by his parents at the age of 11, he left home to become a sadhu. Later he returned home to live a married life, at the request of his father. He became the father of two sons and a daughter.

It is believed that by the time Maharaj Ji was 17 years old, he had all the knowledge at such a young age. It is said that Lord Shri Hanuman is his guru. He visited many places in India and was known by different names in different states. During his visit to Maa Tara Tarini Shakti Peeth in Ganjam, the local people used to address him as Hanumanji, Miraculous Baba.

It is said that once Baba was travelling in a train. But he did not have a ticket. Due to which the TT officer caught him. Due to not having a ticket, the officer asked him to get down at the next station. The name of the station was Neem Karoli. The village near the station is known as Neem Karoli. Baba was taken off the train and the officer ordered the driver to drive the train. Baba did not go anywhere from there. He sat down near the train with a tong on the ground.

The driver tried a lot but the train did not move forward. The train was not moving at all. Then all the people sitting in the train said that this is Baba's wrath. The reason for taking him off the train is that the train is not moving. Then the senior officer there who was familiar with Baba. He apologized to Baba and asked both the driver and the ticket checker to apologize to Baba. Everyone together convinced Baba and apologized to him. After apologizing, Baba respectfully boarded the train. But he put a condition that a station will be built at this place. So that it will be easy for the villagers to come by train because people used to walk miles to come there. Only then they could board the train. They promised Baba and a station named Neem Karoli was built there. From here, the miraculous stories of Baba became famous and from this place, Baba's name became known all over the world as Neem Karoli Baba. From here, Baba got the name Neem Karoli.

Spiritual journey:--

At a young age, he left home and began his quest for knowledge by staying with sages and saints. He travelled to the Himalayas and other places of pilgrimage for many years. Details about his guru are not clear, but he is said to have had deep devotion towards Hanuman and considered him his spiritual guide.

Neem Karauli village and naming:--

He started living in a small village called Neem Karauli (in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand), from where he became famous as Neem Karauli Baba. His ashram is still a major pilgrimage place there.

Siddhi Maa, a devoted devotee of Baba:-

The author writes about Siddhi Maa- It must have been the middle of 1930. There was a lot of hustle and bustle in the market of Almora. Then suddenly the local people saw a tall and broad person wearing a dhoti and a blanket at the shop of the city's businessman Pyare Lal Sah. No one was aware of the importance of this visit. This visitor was Neem Karoli Baba himself who had come to bless Sah's seven-year-old daughter Siddhi. This little girl Siddhi later became Baba's ardent devotee and disciple.

Siddhi Maa was born on the Dashami date of Chaitra Navratri in 1928 in the Sah family of Almora. She was named Haripriya. But her father used to lovingly call her Siddhi. In 1944, at the age of 16, Siddhi was married to Tularam Sah, a famous lawyer of Nainital.

This family was also a devotee of Neem Karoli Baba and Baba used to visit here from time to time for satsang. With the passage of time, Siddhi Maa and her entire family started visiting various temples and pilgrimage sites of India with Baba. In 1962, Tularam ji died. After this incident, Neem Karoli Baba ordered Jeevanti Maa to stay with Siddhi Maa in Geeta Bhawan. After one year, Siddhi Maa left her married life forever and came to Kainchi Ashram with Jeevanti Maa.

The story of Kainchi village becoming a Dham:--

The book has a beautiful description of Kainchi village becoming a Kainchi Dham. It is written in the book- It was the beginning of the sixties. Siddhi Maa was going to Sheetlakhet with Baba. On reaching Ranikhet, the news came over the telephone that a close relative of Siddhi Maa's family had died. On hearing this, the Maharaj ordered Siddhi Maa to return to Nainital. On the way back, Maharaj himself got down after stopping the car near a dense forest on the bank of the river. Siddhi Maa held Maharaj's hand and helped him cross the river. There was a big stone rock under a tree in the forest near the river. Maharaj sat on it and told Siddhi Maa that he would meet her there when she returned. On the way back, Siddhi Maa asked a local resident the name of that place, and he replied- Kainchi. It was here that Siddhi Maa first came in contact with Kainchi, which later became the karmabhoomi of her life. The rock on which Maharajji was sitting that day is now known as Maharajji's rock in Kainchi Dham.

The story of Neem Karoli Baba's bulletproof blanket (Neem Karoli Baba Story in Hindi):--

Neem Karoli Baba always used to wear a blanket. Richard Alpert (Ramdas) has mentioned the incident related to the bulletproof blanket in his book 'Miracle of Love'. Richard Alpert told that, among many devotees of Baba, there was also an elderly couple, who lived in Fatehgarh. This incident of Baba's miraculous blanket is related to 1943.

One day Baba (Neem Karoli Baba) suddenly reached the house of the elderly couple. After this Baba said that he would stay here for the night. The elderly couple devotee was very happy to hear Baba's words. But the elderly couple were poor and they started thinking that if Baba stayed then they would have nothing for hospitality and service. Whatever the couple had enough at that time, they gave it to Baba and welcomed him. After the meal, they gave Baba a cot to sleep and a blanket to cover, covering which Baba slept.

After this the elderly couple also slept near Baba's cot. Baba was sleeping covered with a blanket and was moaning as if someone was beating him. The couple started wondering what happened to Baba. Somehow the night passed and it was morning. In the morning Baba wrapped the sheet and gave it to the elderly couple and said to float it in the Ganges. But do not open it or else you can get into trouble. Baba also said that don't worry, your son will return within a month. The couple was also taking the sheet to float it in the Ganga, following Baba's advice.

While taking the sheet, the couple felt that there was something like iron in the sheet. But Baba had given an empty sheet. Baba had forbidden to open the sheet. So the couple floated it in the river without opening it. As per Baba's advice, after a month, the son of the elderly couple also returned home from the Burma front. He was the only son of the couple, who was a soldier in the British army and was posted on the Burma front during the Second World War. The elderly couple was overjoyed to see their son at home. But the son told his parents about such an incident, which left them shocked.

The son said that one day, about a month ago, he was surrounded by enemy forces and firing continued throughout the night. In this war, all his companions were also killed but he alone survived. The son said that I don't even know how I survived. He said that he was heavily fired upon but not a single bullet hit him.

He kept fighting the Japanese enemies all night and survived. After this, more troops of the British army arrived in the morning. Actually, this was the same night when Neem Karoli Baba came to the house of the elderly couple and stayed there. The elderly couple's eyes filled with tears that their son had returned home safely. Also, the couple understood the miracle of Baba. This is the reason why Richard Alpert has called this blanket a bulletproof blanket in his book 'Miracle of Love'. Even today, devotees of Baba offer blankets in the temple located at Kainchi Dham (neem karoli baba ashram kainchi dham). Baba himself always used to cover himself with a blanket.

5 miracles of Neem Karoli Baba:-

1. Once Baba was travelling in the first class compartment. When the ticket checker came, Baba did not have a ticket. Then Baba was taken off the train at the next station 'Neeb Karoli'. Baba sat down after burying his stick in the ground a little distance away. The officials ordered the train to move and the guard flagged off the train, but the train did not move even an inch from its place. When the train did not move even after a lot of efforts, the local magistrate who knew Baba asked the officials to apologize to Baba and bring him inside respectfully. Other people in the train also supported the magistrate. The officials apologized to Baba and made him sit in the train with respect. As soon as Baba sat in the train, the train started moving. From then on Baba's name became Neem Karoli.

2. Once he saw one of his foreign followers consuming blood pressure medicine. Neem Karoli Baba asked him for the medicine bottle and opened it and ate all the pills kept in it. Seeing this, the follower got very scared and soon started preparing to call an ambulance. But even after hours passed, nothing happened to Baba. He was smiling and calm as before.

3. Once a foreign follower reached Neem Karoli Baba with her husband. The husband of that foreign woman did not believe in Babas and neither did he have faith in religion, but he had come here on the insistence of his wife. Seeing the ashram and Neem Karoli Baba, that person started thinking that his wife is crazy after this ordinary person. Then he got up from there and went away. At night he stood on the bank of the river and started thinking about himself, his wife and the future. The next day morning, before going to his country, he again went to see Neem Karoli Baba on the insistence of his wife as a formality. There Baba called him and asked what were you thinking after coming here? And what were you thinking while standing on the bank of the river? Do you want to know all this? Then Baba told him everything that he was thinking. After listening to this, he started believing in Baba.

4. Richard Alpert (Ramdas) wrote a book named 'Miracle of Love' on the miracles of Neem Karoli Baba in 1979. In this, an incident named 'Bulletproof Blanket' is mentioned. Baba always used to wear a blanket. Even today, when people go to his temple, they gift him a blanket. There is a story about this blanket. Baba had many devotees. Among them was an elderly couple who lived in Fatehgarh. This incident is of 1943. One day suddenly Baba reached their house and said that he would stay here for the night. Both the couples were very happy, but they were also sad that there was nothing in the house to serve Maharaj. However, whatever they had, they presented it before Baba. Baba ate that and lay down on a cot and slept after covering himself with a blanket.

5. Julia Roberts had never seen Baba, but Baba often came in her dreams. One day she saw his picture somewhere and since then she became his devotee. Julia Roberts embraced Hinduism after seeing his picture and hearing his stories from his followers living in America.

The story of Neem Karoli Baba and Steve Jobs:--

In 1974, Steve Jobs traveled to India in search of spiritual peace and depth before starting Apple. He was only 19 years old at that time. Jobs was under the influence of Zen Buddhism and meditation at that time, and he had heard that there was a saint in India – Neem Karoli Baba – who had supernatural knowledge and spiritual power.

India trip and towards Kenchin Dham:--

Steve Jobs came to India with his friend Dan Kotlke. His purpose was to meet and have darshan of Neem Karoli Baba. He reached Kenchin Dham Ashram located in Nainital district of Uttarakhand.

But unfortunately, when he reached there, Neem Karoli Baba had already passed away (in 1973). Steve Jobs was deeply saddened to know this, but he stayed in the ashram for some time and was deeply impressed by the peace and energy there.

Impact of Baba's energy:--

Although Steve Jobs did not get the opportunity to meet Neem Karoli Baba in person, Baba's energy and presence touched him deeply. Jobs meditated in the ashram, and later said that that visit to India completely changed his thinking and life.

Connection with Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg:--

Later, when Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg was struggling with some personal difficulty, Steve Jobs suggested him to go to India and visit Neem Karoli Baba's ashram (Kenchin Dham).
